Dear Team,

This notice is to inform all MICU staff of two upcoming company-wide IT security changes. These updates are designed to strengthen our cybersecurity practices and ensure compliance with internal policies and client requirements, including TSMC’s self-assessment standards.

1. USB Storage Device Ban – Effective Immediately

To enhance data protection and minimize cybersecurity threats, the use of external USB storage devices (e.g., flash drives, external hard disks, memory cards) is now strictly prohibited on all company systems and networks.

Why this change is necessary:

  • To prevent unauthorized data transfers

  • To reduce risks of malware or ransomware introduced via external devices

  • To comply with internal security policies and client requirements

What this means:

  • Employees may not connect any USB storage devices to company computers or laptops

  • All file transfers must be done using company-approved channels (e.g., email, internal file system, cloud services)

  • Exceptions will only be granted under specific circumstances and require prior approval through the ERP system

Implementation Process:In order to enforce this policy, I will be updating antivirus software on all company-issued laptops. The new version—provided by Taiwan—will disable USB storage device functionality.

To ensure smooth implementation, I will need a complete list of MICU employees organized by department. Please assist in providing this list so we can track and complete the necessary updates department by department.

2. Quarterly Wi-Fi Password Updates – Starting July 18

As part of our broader security enhancement efforts, MICU will begin updating the Wi-Fi password every quarter on the following schedule:

  • January 1st

  • April 1st

  • July 1st

  • October 1st

If the 1st falls on a weekend or holiday, the update will occur on the next working day.

Important Notes:

  • The new password will be communicated through official internal channels (e.g., email or HR notice board)

  • Our first update will occur out of schedule on July 18th. After that, regular updates will follow the schedule above

  • These changes are part of our ongoing efforts to enhance secure and reliable internet access for all team members

Thank you for your cooperation as we continue improving our systems. Please contact me directly if you have questions or need assistance with either of these changes.
